A Very Short Update (by Patrick) October 29, 2021

Debbie’s days may still be many? I hope so!

Or perhaps few?

Our upstairs den is now – – at the nurses requests – – her ONLY place to be: with a wonderful hospital bed; with her husband who sleeps at her feet (floor); with now near-daily visits from her hospice team (chaplain, her primary nurse, her hygiene attendant, her social worker, a music therapist and an extra 3hour/day miscellaneous helper).

Middle of the night times always include – – for Debbie and me – – talking about Heaven and Jesus and a few previously chosen memorized verses.

We do not know. Her days may yet be many? Yet, currently everyday now is sleep-filled + “rest-sitting” next to her bed (on our comfy upstairs den couch).

Yet, lucidity (mixed with a pinch of grogginess) sparks to action on its own schedule. Lucidity is Great! You may get get a text or call from her? I hope so.

Keep praying with us, and with me – – for my “Canada’s Finest”.

Warmly,

Patrick (for the both of us)

Her life verse: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” Prov 3:5-6

  2. Thank you for this update. I continue to pray for you both! “But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives He will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control”. Galatians 5:22-23 TLB… Many have seen this fruit in both of you. Many others have seen or will see this fruit and come to know Jesus because of your love and faithfulness. With love and prayers.

  7. We thank you, Patrick, for this update on dear Debbie. Praying especially for her, you, Sarah, Kathryn & Carl today on Debbie’s Birthday. May it be a Special day being together and caring for her needs. I cry for you all and I wish I could bring flowers or a meal. We are thankful to know you have daily help from her hospice team, and that she is comfortable enough to sleep. Those are answers to our prayers. We are doing studies in 1 and 2 Peter and I think first of Debbie when I read, “…there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 1:11. I know hers will be a very rich welcome indeed. We feel SO very blessed to know you both and have been impacted by your lives of steadfast love and service to our Lord. Thank you for giving Debbie our hugs today, Patrick, and they are for you too. And thank you for your personal notes and the great wedding photos you sent. SO thankful for God’s special blessings and JOY on that Special day! ❤️ With our Love, Vicky & Gary

  13. Dear Patrick & Debbie, Thank you so much for sharing your lives with us in this way…so that we can both learn from your example in handling difficult times, but also helping us to know your needs to bring to the Lord for you at this time. I read Ps. 20 this morning and thought of you both and this journey you have been on…that only God knew what would be ahead of you, and how He has walked “with you”!

Thank you for keeping in touch, we have appreciated you both now for many years, and will be praying that “God may supply all your needs”…and remembering that “nothing shall be able to separate us from the Love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord”

Sending our love…and hugs from Canada to you and Canada’s Finest!
